SIDNEY — The Sidney High girls soccer team completed regular-season play with an easy 9-0 victory over visiting Greenville in Greater Western Ohio Conference North action at the high school Wednesday.
The win gives the Lady Jackets a 3-2 final record in North play, good enough for third place behind Vandalia and Troy. Overall, Sidney is 11-4-1 and returns to action Monday at home against Fairmont in Division 1 sectional tournament play.
Following Senior Night festivities, Sidney got the scoring started at the 24-minute mark on an outshot shot by Lizzie Barr, off an assist from Macie Ivey.
That opened the flood gates, with the Lady Jackets adding three more goals in the first half, courtesy of Shelby Baker, Elaine Wiesenmayer and Keaton Eilert. Shaylee Hanayik and Baker had assists.
In the second half, it took just 24 seconds for Sidney to get on the board again. Emily Wiesenmayer took a ball through several defenders and scored. And again, it opened the flood gates, with Jenna Foster-Wheeler, Ashley Egan, Emma Dahlinghaus and Kaitlyn Davis adding goals for the Lady Jackets.
Davis and Ashley Egan added assists.
