McCartyville St. Patrick’s Day festivities

MCCARTYVILLE — The McCartyville St. Patricks Day Celebration results include:

Irish Jog, on Saturday: Male, overall winner Lucas Huber, second place Joel Gaier, and third place Riley Holland. Female first place Emma Gehret, and Lexi Schmiesing, and Cierra Jones tied for second.

There were over 400 people in attendance at the fish fry, and they sold 700 pounds of fish. For the Irish Jog, they had 150 participants.

Chairperson Larry L. Huecker said there was a good turnout for the singalong on Thursday. We had a very nice parade, and numerous house parties after the parade. Turned into a very nice social event. We had great crowds for all event. Thanks to everyone, he said.

Some St. Patrick’s Day Parade participants sported irish beards to go along with their green garb in McCartyville Saturday, March 19. The parade was lead by Grand Marshals Marlene Huber and Helen Meyer. Their late husbands Don Huber and Lawrence Meyer were remembered during the celebration. The parade also featured a float with all the previous St. Patrick’s Day queens.
