A fireplace was stripped away to reveal the original slate underneath.

Stained wooden sliding doors were installed.
The kitchen has been greatly enlarged.
The refrigerator beer will be pumped from to the taps.
Custom made sinks in the bathrooms.
A piece of the old railing has been installed in what was once a window but was covered over to make a wall.
Booths are made of stained wood.
The backroom mural has been cleaned and fixed.
The original front doors were discovered in the attic and reinstalled.
The Wooden Shoe Inn held an open house on Sunday, May 24, so the public could see the complete remodeling job the restaurant has gone through. Talking at the bar are, left to right, Gene Phlipot, Doug Hausfeld, and Zack Wiford, all of Minster. Hausfeld said he has been coming to The Wooden Shoe for over 40 years. Wiford said of the remodel “Oh, it’s beautiful. It is really amazing. We are really excited. We’re so glad Andy and Brianna bought it.” Wiford was referring to the restaurant’s new owners Andy and Brianna Phlipot. All chairs have been replaced, Booths were replaced, the kitchen is now four times bigger, there is an all new expanded menu. The new chef is Joe Phlipot, who graduated from Sullivan University with a major in culinary arts. They hope to open in mid June.
