Sidney Rotary gives back to local children

JACKSON CENTER — Children in the Students With Disabilities Unit at Jackson Center Schools have a reason to smile this Christmas.

The Rotary Club of Sidney recently delivered Christmas presents to every child in Mary Sayre, Katelyn Seger and Patti Schmiesing’s classrooms.

Club President Kurt Barhorst said this is the 81st year of holiday giving for the Sidney Rotary Club. They have supported the Jackson Center classroom for at least a decade. The club also provided gifts for students in SWD units at Anna and Sidney City Schools this year.

“The Rotary motto is service above self. As a local chapter, providing a little fun for students with developmental disabilities certainly kicks off the spirit of the Christmas season for all of us,” Barhorst said.

Teachers said the students were very thankful and delighted with the special gifts.
