McCartyville ready for St. Patrick’s celebration

MCCARTYVILLE — The luck of the Irish will surely be found in McCartyville this weekend.

Village residents are preparing for the annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration planned for March 11-13.

The event kicks off with a house judging contest for village residents. Houses will be judged Wednesday, March 10, with the winners to be announced Friday, March 12, after the queen is crowned. The first place winner will receive $100; second place $50; and third place $25.

A sing-a-long at Patrick’s Pub & Grill is planned for Thursday, March 11, at 7 p.m.

Friday, March 12, events include a fish fry beginning at 5 p.m. at McCartyville Sacred Heart Parish Activity Center with carryout only meals available; a toast to the queen at 7 p.m. at Patrick’s Pub & Grill with the crowning ceremony to follow at 7:30 p.m. special recognition will b given to the grand marshal of 1994 and 1995, the Anna state cross country champions. From 9 p.m. to midnight, music and fun will be held throughout the village and at St. Patrick’s Pub % Grill.

On Saturday, March 13, rides to the Irish Jog will depart from the church parking lot at 10:30 a.m. The job will begin at 11 a.m. from St. Patrick’s Church to McCartyville. The parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. in downtown McCartyville.

A benefit putter golf outing begins after the parade Saturday. It starts at the K of C shed and moves throughout the village. At 3 p.m., the Little Miss Shamrock pageant will be held.

A celebration at St. Patrick’s Pub & Grill will be also held Saturday night.
