COLUMBUS — A total of 34,404 job openings were posted online from Jan. 14, 2022, through Feb. 13, 2022, for Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Darke, Fayette, Greene, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Shelby counties.
This was an increase of 1,819 ads from the previous reporting period.
Compared to the same time a year ago, this reflects an increase of 5,893 ads.
A breakdown of the annual salary range for job ads was as follows: Entry level jobs of less than $30,000 (15.9%), middle income jobs between $30,000 and $49,000 (25.7%), upper-middle income jobs between $50,000 and $79,000 (25.9%), high income (12.1%) and six figure jobs of $100,000, or more (20.5%).
Most jobs required a high school diploma, followed by a bachelor’s degree. A total of 5.4% of job ads required an advanced degree at the master’s or doctoral level.
A breakdown of the required education range for jobs ads was as follows: GED/high school (42.6%), associates level degree (14.1%), bachelor’s degree (37.8%), master’s degree (2.9%), doctoral degree (2.5%).
Top certifications sought in job ads included those for driving (Class A commercial driver’s license, driver’s license, commercial driver’s license, and driver’s license), security clearances, health (basic life support, certified registered nurse, CPR certification, and advanced cardiac life support).
Specifically mentioned were the following skills keywords: customer service, scheduling, operations, supervision, Microsoft Office, mathematics, basic computer usage, organizational skills, management skills, and prioritization.
Top employers with the most area job ads (over 600) included Kettering Health Network, General Dynamics Information Technology, and Deloitte.
Employers with 200-600 ads included The Dollar General, Walmart, Instacart, Alion Science, Bon Secours Health System, Dayton Children’s Hospital, Carvana, Emerson, Crown Equipment Corporation, Dayton Public Schools, Kettering Health, McDonald’s Corporation, Meijer, ABX AIR.
Employers with 132-199 job ads included Decker Truck Line, CVS Health, Roehl Transport, Inc., Lowe’s, Synchrony Financial, LinQuest Corporation, Booz Allen Hamilton, Fresenius, Pizza Hut, University of Dayton, Bob Evans Farms, Inc., Advance Auto Parts, Inc., Oasis Systems, Inc., AutoZone, Inc., Riverside Research, Huntington Ingalls Industries, Carrols Restaurant Group, and DCS Corporation.
Top occupations with 400-2,000 job ads included registered nurses (1,961), heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers (1,834), first-line supervisors of retail sales workers (1,335), applications software developers (936), retail salespersons (909), all other computer occupations (835), stock clerks and order fillers (714), light truck or delivery service drivers (706), first-line supervisors of food preparation and serving workers (653), customer service representatives (517), information security analysts (491), network and computer systems administrators (490), nursing assistants (429), driver/sales workers (409), as well as general maintenance and repair workers (407).
