Firefighters respond to apartment fire

SIDNEY — Sidney firefighters were dispatched to an apartment fire Saturday, Nov. 26. at 7:14 p.m.

A total of eight vehicles along with 13 firefighters dealt with a fire at 500 N. Vandemark Road, Apt. 33. Losses were set at $40,000 for the property and $15,000 for the contents. There were no injuries.

According to the report from the Sidney Fire Department, smoke was visible at the back of the apartment when the caller called 911. Everyone was out of the residence when firefighters arrived on the scene. One occupant was checked for smoke inhalation. One of the occupants was on oxygen and the oxygen cylinders were retrieved from the apartment. Both people refused transportation to the hospital.

The Red Cross assisted the residents in finding a place to stay for the night.

Assisting at the fire were firefighters from Anna, Lockington and Piqua.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
