SIDNEY — A house fire on Foraker Avenue remains under investigation by the Sidney Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit.
According to a press release, at 10:59 p.m. on Aug. 6, 2023; crews from the Sidney Department of Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to 630 Foraker Ave., Sidney, for a structure fire.
On arrival, firefighters found a two-story, single-family residence with heavy fire throughout the structure. Police officers advised all occupants were out of the structure on firefighter arrival.
A box alarm was requested for all off-duty Sidney firefighters to respond, along with Anna Fire Department, Lockington Fire Department and a medic from Piqua Fire Department.
Firefighters initiated a defensive fire attack due to the large amount of fire involved in the structure. After the fire was knocked down firefighters entered the structure and completed overhaul and checked for fire extension.
The loss to the property, owned by Corby Enochs, is estimated at $110,000 and $75,000 to contents.
The fire was upgrade to a second alarm Fort Loramie Fire Department, Houston Fire Department, Port Jefferson Fire Department, Jackson Center Fire Department, and Kettlersville-Van Buren Fire Department and Anna EMS were called to assist with the incident.
Due to the extreme heat additional Engine Companies were requested from Botkins Fire Department and Russia Fire Department.
The Sidney/Shelby County Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services provided canteen service to on scene personnel.
One firefighter sustained a minor injury on the scene and was not transported to the hospital.
CenterPoint Energy was called to the scene to secure the gas, AES to secure the power, and city of Sidney to secure the domestic water to the structure.
Red Cross was requested to respond for the occupants of the residence to secure housing for two adults and one infant.
Piqua Fire Medic handled one medical incident in the city call during the fire.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
