House fire

Firefighters pour foam onto an attached garage fire that also involved the house on the 300 block of West South Street in Botkins around 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31. Firefighters from Botkins, Anna, New Knoxville, Van Buren, Sidney and Jackson Center responded to the house fire.

BOTKINS —A house fire at 301 E. South St. in Botkins on Aug. 31 at 11:23 a.m. led to the total loss of the home.

According to Botkins Fire Chief Tom Glass, there was heavy smoke and fire upon crews’ arrival. The home is owned by Nick Greve and no one was home at the time of the fire. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries while fighting the fire. Anna, Jackson Center, New Knoxville, Van Buren and Sidney fire departments assisted along with the Botkins Police, Anna Rescue, Salvation Army, Dominion Gas, AES and Botkins Village crews.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
