Sidney man sentenced to prison

SIDNEY – The Shelby County Common Pleas Court recently handed down several sentences for pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, attempted domestic violence, attempted assault and aggravated menacing, among other charges.

Christian R. Wilson, 41, of Sidney, was sentenced to seven to 10 1/2 years in prison and seven years to run consecutive, for a total of 14 – 17 ½ years, with 97 days of jail credit granted, for two counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, a second degree felony, with mandatory five year post release control. This also makes Wilson a Tier II sex offender. Additionally, a black Samsung galaxy S9, a gray acer chromebook, a black western digital my passport ultra external hard drive, and a western digital my passport external hard drive are forfeited to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department. Wilson was indicted on eight counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, a second degree felony, and eleven counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, a fourth degree felony, for selling, offering to sell, distributing, transporting, disseminating, exhibiting or displaying material that shows a minor engaging in sexual activity and buying, procuring, possessing or controlling obscene material that has a minor as a participant. Eighteen counts were dismissed.

Brett L. Taylor, 40, of Sidney, was sentenced to 11 months in prison, with two days of jail credit granted, for one count of attempted domestic violence, a fifth degree felony. Taylor was indicted on one count of domestic violence, a third degree felony, for punching his spouse and showing his spouse into a dresser after a previous conviction of domestic violence.

Matthew R. Tucker, 42, of Piqua, was sentenced to five years community control, with three days of jail credit, on one count of attempted domestic violence, a fifth degree felony. Additionally, Tucker must successfully complete treatment at a community based correctional facility. Tucker was indicted on one count of domestic violence, a third degree felony, for grabbing the female victim with whom he was cohabitating, and throwing her to the ground knowing she was pregnant, having previously been convicted of domestic violence and domestic battery.

Dwayne R. Valentine, Jr., 44, of Sidney, was sentenced to 10 months in prison and 180 days in prison, concurrent, with 11 days of jail credit granted, on one count of attempted assault, a fifth degree felony, and one count of domestic violence, a first degree misdemeanor. Valentine was indicted on one count of assault, a fourth degree felony, and one count of domestic violence, a first degree misdemeanor, for knowingly causing physical harm to a Sidney police officer while in performance of his duties, and for knowingly causing physical harm to an adult male household member.

William J. Freytag, 70, currently in the Shelby County Jail, was sentenced to 180 days in the Shelby County Jail, and must pay a fine of $250 for one count of aggravated menacing, a first degree misdemeanor. Additionally Freytag must serve community control sanction for 60 months, abstain from alcohol and illegal drugs, submit to a random urinalysis, comply with substance abuse, mental health treatment, critical thinking programs including anger management, have no direct or indirect contact with

the victim and provide a DNA sample. Freytag was indicted on one count of retaliation, a third degree felony, for threatening an official of the Shelby County Domestic Relations Court by saying the Magistrate has a target on her head after making a ruling in Freytag’s divorce action.

Latasha L. Otley, 32, of Sidney, was sentenced to five years community control, with two days of jail credit granted, for one count of attempted having weapons while under disability, a fourth degree felony. Additionally, Otley must successfully complete the MonDay Program, and after completion of MonDay she must reside in a sober living facility. Otley was indicted on one count of having weapons while under disability, a third degree felony, for possession of a .380 acp Taurus gun while under disability, being under indictment for aggravated possession of drugs. The Sidney Police Department is authorized to dispose of the .380 acp Taurus gun according to law.

Brent A. Wille, 47, of Ludlow Falls, was sentenced to 11 months in prison, with no days of jail credit granted, after violating terms of his community control sanction. Wille was convicted for one count of theft, a fifth degree felony.

Alan C. Stephens, 41, of Pemberton, was sentenced to nine months in prison, with two days of jail credit granted, on one count of possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony. Stephens was indicted on one count of possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony, and one count of possessing criminal tools, a fifth degree felony, for fentanyl and a paper fold used for storing, transporting and abusing fentanyl. One count was dismissed.

Nathaniel K. Holmes, III, 24, of Cincinnati, was sentenced to 17 months in prison, with 12 days of jail credit granted, on one charge of attempted failure to comply with order or signal of officer, a fourth degree felony. Additionally, his driver’s license is suspended for three years. Holmes was indicted on one count of failure to comply with order or signal of officer, a third degree felony, for fleeing from a law enforcement officer’s signal to stop, operating his vehicle in excess of 100 mph, passing on the right shoulder, changing lanes, swerving, hitting a stop sign, and abruptly cutting in front of a semi.

Zachary A. Harris, 26, currently in the Shelby County Jail, was sentenced to 17 months and 12 months in prison, concurrent, with 107 days of jail credit granted, on one count of attempted failure to comply with order or signal of officer, a fourth degree felony, and one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony. Additionally Harris’s driver license is suspended for three years. Harris was indicted on one count of failure to comply with order or signal of officer, a third degree felony, one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony, and one count possessing criminal tools, a fifth degree felony, for willfully eluding or fleeing a police officer after an audible signal by traveling through a residential neighborhood at excessive speeds, driving into oncoming traffic, driving through a front yard and striking a parked vehicle and tree, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a digital scale, syringes and pipes. One count was dismissed. Additionally, Harris was sentenced to 30 months and 12 months in prison, concurrent with each other but consecutive to his sentence above, for one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a third degree felony, and one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fifth degree felony. Harris was indicted for three counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a third degree felony, for selling or offering to sell methamphetamine. One count was dismissed.
