The Sidney Civic Band will present its annual patriotic concert “Happy B-Day USA!” at 7 p.m. on Friday on the Courthouse Square in downtown Sidney.

Conductor Kathy McIntosh will lead the band in a number of traditional American marches including “Red’s White and Blue March” by Red Skelton, “American’s We” by Fillmore, “Chimes of Liberty” by Goldman, and “Torch of Freedom” and “Voice of America” by Karl King.

The band will also play three medleys of well-known American songs: “The Good Old USA,” “American Folk Rhapsody #1,” and “American Tribute.”

Another highlight of the program will be Ohio composer James Swearingen’s “With Malice Towards None,” a tribute to Abraham Lincoln, our 16th president.

The concert will conclude with a arrangement of “America the Beautiful,” the familiar “National Emblem March,” and the band’s traditional ending of “God Bless America” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”

As always, there will be a Spot pie drawing.

Audiences are reminded to bring a lawn chair. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at Connection Point Church of God. For weather updates, check the band’s Facebook page.
