100 YEARS

MONDAY, AUGUST 12, 1924

75 YEARS

MONDAY, AUGUST 12, 1949

The Shelby County Historical Society would like to locate a native stone, a large boulder big enough to have a face on one side at 28 inches by 24 inches. A plaque is to be placed on the stone to be used as a marker for the site of the oldest settlement in Shelby County on the Doorley farm along Loramie creek.

50 YEARS

MONDAY, AUGUST 12, 1974

JACKSON CENTER – The village has purchased a parcel of land for the site of a new safety building to house the fire department and police force.

25 YEARS

MONDAY, AUGUST 12, 1999

FORT LORAMIE – St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Fort Loramie has welcomed a new pastor. The Rev. Steven Shoup brings with him the desire to make things happen. The new pastor began his duties July 6.

JACKSON CENTER – After numerous offers were made and some careful consideration, Jackson Center Village Administrator Michael Dodds has decided to stay in Jackson Center. He applied for a position as Celina’s safety-service director, but decided not to accept the position.

Monarch Machine Tool Co. of Dayton is planning a name change to Genesis Worldwide Inc. Pending shareholder approval of the change at an Aug. 21 meeting, company officials believe the new name “reflects the transforming events of the last 24 months.
