SIDNEY — The Lehman Catholic Cavaliers girls soccer team took down Milton-Union 2-0 on Thursday at Lehman High School.

Sophomore Emi Wray got the Cavaliers on the board with a goal in the first half with 28:40 to play, giving Lehman an early 1-0 lead.

“We have one girl out with a possible ACL (injury) and another girl out with a concussion,” Lehman head coach Oshea Peart said. “The girls are having to play in positions that they don’t usually play in.”

Lehman’s senior goalkeeper Callie Giguere made sure to keep Milton-Union quiet on offense, making numerous diving stops and taking up lots of real estate in the box.

After taking their 1-0 lead into the half, the Cavaliers got another goal from a sophomore, this time being Veronica Pannapara with 36:23 left in the second. Pannapara’s goal gave Lehman a 2-0 lead that they wouldn’t surrender.

The Cavaliers advanced to 2-1-0 on the season following their 4-0 Tuesday win over Dayton Christian and a 1-0 Aug. 17 loss to Anna.

“I couldn’t be prouder of these girls,” Peart said. “They are hard working and are able to adapt. We just have to keep moving.”

Lehman next plays Celina at home on Saturday.
