125 YEARS

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 1899

The attendance at the fair this year will determine whether the Shelby County fair will be kept up or permitted to go down. The much complained of extra charge of twenty-five cents for carriages and buggies has been left off this year.

100 YEARS

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 1924

Realizing the popularity of harness racing as a fair attraction, purses totaling $4,000 have been set aside for the Shelby County Fair speed program.

75 YEARS

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 1949

Toys and a place to work on reclaiming used toys occupied the attention of the Charity League members at the meeting this week in the home of Mrs. Don Thompson where Mrs. Tom Toy was the co-hostess.

50 YEARS

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 1974

The youngest mermaid in Shelby County Red Cross Swimming Safety Program at the Sidney Municipal Pool is Kimberly Elliott, eight months old.

25 YEARS

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 1999

They were just young boys when their father, Ralph Cromes, decided to change his career and became a funeral home director. Today, Norris and Lloyd Cromes continue the tradition started by their father. Their sons, Ralph and Gary, are the third generation of Cromes to follow that tradition.
