125 YEARS

Saturday, Aug. 24, 1899

A team of horses hitched to a dray belonging to Jud Frey and loaded with household goods, frightened near the C.H.&D. depot this afternoon and ran away. The team was caught in front of the Wagner House.

100 YEARS

Saturday, Aug. 24, 1924

The County Normal School will open Sept. 2 at Anna. All who expect to attend should be present.

75 YEARS

Saturday, Aug. 24, 1949

ANNA – Leading public-spirited citizens of this up-and-coming community had little time for idle talk today as they accelerated final touches on their new mazda-tower system at the local athletic field, prior to turning on the powerful lights in formal ceremony.

50 YEARS

Saturday, Aug. 24, 1974

At a spring meeting of teachers throughout the Sidney school system, more than 200 unanimously favored work stoppage tactics as a last resort alternative if improvements in the school system were not made.

25 YEARS

Saturday, Aug. 24, 1999

Elizabeth Williams of Sidney recently was appointed the Shelby County District executive for the Boy Scouts of America. Williams said she got involved with the Boy Scouts while working as a nature director for Woodland Trails.
