Lehman scores 15 goals in win over Fairlawn

The Lehman Catholic Cavaliers boys soccer took down Fairlawn 15-0 on Tuesday at Lehman high school.

The Cavaliers got the scoring started with a goal from senior Zen Wagner at 33:25 in the first half. A few minutes later, Brayden Ulbrich got his first goal of the game with 25:58 to play in the first.

“The only thing I saw that we needed to work on was scoring earlier,” Lehman head coach Eric Courtad said. “We may run into a team that is pretty even with us that we can beat, but we have to start out better than that.”

Ulbrich followed up with another goal in the first to give Lehman a 3-0 lead. Wagner added a second goal to his total just 50 seconds later making the score 4-0 with 17:36 left in the first.

Sophomore Colt Courtad notched a goal at 14:30 followed by Gus Richard scoring his first of the game at 6:11. To end the half, Keenan Hartley scored a goal to extend the lead to 7-0 after 40 minutes of play.

The Cavaliers kept the scoring going in the second half with Wagner’s third goal of the night at 32:40 to make it an 8-0 game.

Richard scored his second of the game less than two minutes later. A few minutes after that, Colin Potts laced a goal into the net with 27:00 left to play.

Senior Alex Lundy kept the offense going with a goal of his own just under the 20-minute mark to make the score 11-0.

Hartley managed his second of the game at the 10-minute mark before junior Adam Flood scored with 7:45 to play with Lehman up 13-0.

Senior Cole Bostick put the finishing touches on the match with a header to the back of the net with 2:00 to play before finishing the game up with a floater goal at the whistle to make the final 15-0.

With this game, Lehman advances to 3-2-0 and Fairlawn falls to 0-4-0.

Fairlawn will next face off with Jackson Center at home on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 5:00 pm.

The Cavaliers are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 3 where they take on Jackson Center at Jackson Center at 5:30 pm.

Jackson Center

The Jackson Center Wildcats fell 3-1 to Wapakoneta on Monday, Aug. 26 at home.

Senior Lucas Heitkamp scored Jackson Center’s lone goal on a penalty kick. The Wildcats fell to 2-2-0 on the season with the loss.

Jackson Center next will face off against Fairlawn on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Fairlawn at 5:00 pm.

Botkins

The Botkins Trojans started their season off with a 4-2 win against Elida on Saturday, Aug. 24.

This win gives Botkins a 3-0 record before they square off with New Knoxville on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 5:00 pm at New Knoxville.
