SIDNEY – The Sidney Yellow Jackets (4-3) cruise to a victory in straight sets against Stebbins (0-5) on Wednesday at Signey high school.

Sidney only trailed once in the game (5-4 in the second set), and quickly erased the deficit by going on a 12-0 run.

A contributing factor to the Yellow Jackets success on the court is their communication.

“I think it’s from putting the girls in uncomfortable situations early in the season,” Sidney head coach Dexter Tobie said. “We have changed our lineup a lot, but giving everybody opportunities to see different sides of the ball and not letting us get too comfortable have helped.

“Team chemistry has played a big part this year. We played a lot of volleyball this summer and despite having some youth, we have some great leadership that is definitely helping.”

Sidney took the first set 25-11 in dominant fashion and never took its foot off the gas.

“It’s about learning to play at a high level of intensity,” Tobie said. “That has been the big focus for the past couple of years. Being my third year now, they’re starting to learn how to play with a different mentality. I think that is making them realize how good they can be.”

The Yellow Jackets are back on the court Thursday, Aug. 29 against Fairborn at Fairborn high school.
