Bixler to serve as vice president of OHSAA board of directors

COLUMBUS — Anna superintendent Andy Bixler will began his term as vice president of the Ohio High School Athletic Association Board of Directors when the board gathered in Columbus for its first meeting of the 2024-25 school year on Thursday.

Bixler, the Class A Representative from the Southwest District, is entering the final year of his current three-year term on the board. Bixler previously served on the Board of Directors from 2015-17, including as president in 2016-17.

The OHSAA is the governing body of high school and junior high sports in Ohio. It is a voluntary, non-profit organization that governs 817 high schools and 747 middle schools, which includes approximately 400,000 student-athletes.

Bixler is a 1988 graduate of Bellefontaine High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in education from Miami University in 1992 and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Dayton in 1996.

Bixler has been serving as Anna’s superintendent since 2006. Prior to this, he began his professional career at Brookville and then worked at Preble Shawnee for four years teaching mathematics at both schools. During his time as a teacher, he coached football, basketball, and track. Bixler was then selected as the high school principal at Preble Shawnee until becoming high school principal at for five years beginning in 2001.

Bixler was elected to the Southwest District Athletic Board in 2004 and was reelected as a Class A rep in 2006. He has served continuously on the Southwest Board for the past 20 years.

Andy and his wife, Kim, have been married for 25 years and have three children, Bart, Hope and Blake.
