SIDNEY — The Sidney Yellow Jackets fell to Chaminade Julienne 4-0 on Thursday.

“These teams have found our achilles heel,” Sidney head coach Kevin Veroneau said. “We have a hard time dealing with the long range shots. We gave up multiple goals to Bath in the air, multiple to Carroll and tonight against CJ.”

The Yellow Jackets (5-3-0, 3-0-0) weren’t able to get much going in the way of offense against CJ but they battled to a stalemate until 5:32 when CJ’s Bailey Hawkins scored the first goal of the game on a free kick.

Larkyn Vordemark nearly tied the game up with 2:00 left in the first half, but sent the ball just right of the goal keeping the 1-0 lead fr CJ.

CJ added a second goal just before the half on a breakaway to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Sidney gave up two more goals in the second half, less than four minutes apart to seal the 4-0 shutout loss for the Yellow Jackets.

“It’s almost as if we get up and then let up,” Veroneau said. “We’re attacking, but then we’re not taking that one last step on a corner kick to go up, try to win the ball and put it in. I think we won one corner kick in the air tonight.

“Now we have to talk about who is going to go up and try to win it, because the players that we’ve originally identified aren’t trying to win it.”

Sidney is back on the pitch on Monday where they face Miamisburg at home at 7:15 p.m.
