Shelby County Libraries events scheduled for September

The Shelby County Libraries have many events going on in September.

At Amos Memorial Public Library, for the entire month, the teen room will be having a sticker mosaic project for children in grades seventh through 12th grade and a Sudoku puzzle activity. Every Thursday at 4 p.m., Amos Library will be having its traditional Teen Thursday event again. In the Children’s Room, every Tuesday at 5 p.m. will be Superhero Camp for kids in first through third grade. Registration is required and so is attendance for the duration of the camp.

Anna Library will have a senior cards event happening every Wednesday from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m.

Every Friday, Russia Library will have a story time at 10:30am for kids ages three to five years old. Throughout the month of Sept., registration is open for the upcoming Book Buddies events on October 8th and 24th at 3:15pm. They will be reading “The Best Halloween Ever” by Barbara Robinson.

Jackson Center Library will be having a puzzle exchange were participants get to swap a complete puzzle for another complete puzzle, and an “I Spy” guessing game for the kids. They will have a drop-in craft available while supplies last. A sensory bin game where kids can catch paper bugs in rice will also be available. Registration is open for the upcoming adult craft class that will be held on Oct. 1 at 12p.m. They will be making a fall wine cork pumpkin and will cost $10 per person.

From Sept. 9 to Sept. 14, Fort Loramie Library will continue their “I Spy” game. Botkins Library will have a drop-in craft available while supplies last. Amos Library will have a Grandparents Day activity in the Children’s Room and a video game activity in the Teen Room.

On Sept. 9th, at Amos Library, children can bring their studded animals for a day of pampering for Teddy Bear Day. Jackson Center Library will a have Bridge Club from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is free to participate, but registraion is required.

On Sept. 10th, Jackson Center Library will be having Lego Builders for second through fourth graders at 3 p.m. The creations will be displayed all month. Anna Library will have the first event in the Back To School Series hosted by Ohio State University: CFAES at 6pm. They will be teaching people about what flowers you can grow that you can eat later. At Amos Library the Children’s Room will be having an teddy bear tea party Storytime at 10am. On the Lower Level at 4pm they will be having a special back to school program.

On Sept. 13 Jackson Center Library will have a acorn-themed storytime at 11am for kids ages 1 year- 7 years. They will also have a dot art craft available for International Dot Day on this day and on Saturday the 14th. All creations will be displayed all week before being returned to the artist.

From Sept. 16 to the 21, Russia Library and Fort Loramie Library will have an “I Spy” Game. Anna Library will have an “I Spy” game that comes with a prize for completing. Amos Library will have a National Sewing Month activity in the Children’s Room.

On Sept. 16, Amos Library will have Play-Doh in the Children’s Room for National Play-Doh Day. Jackson Center Library will have Adult Book Club at 4 p.m. They will be discussing “When The Men Were Gone” by Marjorie Herrera. It is free to participate, but registration is required. Botkins Library is hosting a Lego Builders event for those Pre-K to second grade at 4 p.m. All creations will be on display for a month.

On Sept. 17, Amos Library will have a STEM Cafe for kids to come and pick a project from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for seventh through 12th graders. Botkins Library will have another Lego Builders event, this time for third through sixth graders at 4 p.m. All creations made will be on display for a month. Jackson Center Library will have popcorn and bingo from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for first and second graders.

On Sept. 18, at 7:30 a.m., the Shelby County Libraries’ Board Of Trustees will meet in the boardroom on the mezzanine at Amos Library. They will also be hosting a storytime at 10 a.m. in the Children’s Room. At 4 p.m. they will be showing Inside Out 2 in the lower-level. Russia Library will be having Books and Blocks for babies 6 months old to two years old. They will be reading books while they play with blocks.

On Sept. 19, Amos Library will be hosting the Books and Brews Club at 6 p.m. They will be discussing “The Heaven and Earth Grocery Story” by James McBride. Readers 18 years old and over are welcome to attend the event.

On Sept. 20, Anna Library will have a storytime at 11:15 a.m. to celebrate Ms. Sheila’s Birthday. Jackson Center Library will also be having a special storytime of their own. Amanda Hurley from Shelby County Soil and Water Conservation District will be teaching the kids about the different types of leaves. They will also be making a leaf print craft.

On Sept. 21, Botkins Library will have a cartoon and craft at 10 a.m. They will be showing “The Sword In The Stone.”

From Sept. 23 to 28, Russia Library will have an “I Spy” game. Fort Loramie Library will be continuing their “I Spy” game. Anna Library will have an “I Spy” game that comes with a prize for completing. Amos Library will have a Banned Book Book Hunt in the Children’s Room and a guessing jar for National Peanut Day in the Teen Room.

On Sept. 23, Russia Library will have the second event in the Back To School Series hosted by Ohio State University: CFAES at 6 p.m. They will be teaching about the trees native to Ohio and making a buckeye necklace. At 6:15 p.m., they will be having a family storytime. Botkins Library will have a preschool storytime for three to five year olds at 5:30 p.m.

On Sept. 24, Jackson Center Library will have popcorn and bingo from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for fourth through sixth graders. Board games will be available on the lower level at Amos Library at 4 p.m. At 6 p.m. in Anna Library, Miss Kendra will be showing her hedgehog to kids Pre-K to kindergarten. After they meet the hedgehog, they will get make their own. Registration is required, and it $12 per child.

On Sept. 25, Renner Sanctuary will host a library sponsored storytime at 10 a.m. Amanda Hurley from Shelby County Soil and Water Conservation District will be teaching the kids about the different types of leaves. Afterwards they will be making a leaf print craft. Russia Library will have Hexbugs and Snap Circuits for the kids to play with at 3:15 p.m.

Amos Library will have a drop-in leafy hedgehog craft in the children’s room and along with free coffee for the parents provided by Greenhaus Coffee all day while supplies last.
