Board of election reminds voters of looming registration deadline

The Shelby County Board of Elections is reminding the public of a deadline quickly approaching.

Those who wish to vote in the November general election must be registered at least 30 days before Election Day. The deadline to register is Oct. 7.

Aside from voters registering for the first time, the board of elections reminds those who have moved since they last voted but have not yet changed their address on their registration must do so by the Oct. 7 deadline.

The board of elections office will have extended hours on Oct. 7; it will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Regular hours are from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Registration forms are available at the office, which is located at 230 E. Court St. in Sidney.

Registrations are also accepted by all Shelby County Libraries locations, including Amos Memorial Public Library in Sidney. They are also accepted at the bureau of motor vehicles office on Milligan Court in Sidney.

To be eligible to vote, voters must satisfy the below requirements:

Must be a US citizen

Must be 18 years old by November 5, 2024

Must be a resident of Ohio for 30 days prior to the Election

Must register to vote 30 days prior to the election
