The Sidney Women’s Tennis League moved its action to the Lehman Catholic High School courts this summer with the rebuilding of the Sidney High School courts. Matches started June 3 and continued Monday evenings through the last match of the summer played on Aug. 12.
Winners of the highest average for the season were: first place to Laura Cianciolo, second place to Tracey Dammeyer, third place to Cindy Poeppelman, fourth place to Kara Deats, and a fifth place tie to Tisha Huth and Nicole Lochard.
The most consistent average award went to Sheena Gates.
Other players this tennis season included Tara Adams, Kelly Bickford, Megan Burns, Kathy Fogt, Melissa Jock, Kaye Lengerich, Amaya Matlock, Cara McMahon, Briauna O’Connell, Valarie O’Connell, Mary Paulus, Denise Place, Joan Schroeder, Ann Steinbrunner, Rikki Unterbrink, Jessica Warbington, Stephanie Webb, Amy West, and Haley White.
Many other substitute players filled in as needed during the season as well.
An end of season gathering was hosted by Tisha Huth after the last match of the season.
In addition, the league extends continued thanks go to Duane Gaier and the City of Sidney Parks and Recreation Department for its support of the summer tennis program.
