FORT LORAMIE — Fort Loramie took down the Russia Raiders in straight sets on Thursday at Fort Loramie High School in a Shelby County Athletic League matchup.

“Volleyball is such an imperfect game,” Fort Loramie head coach John Rodgers said. “One of my mentors says that whoever plays imperfect volleyball the best wins.”

Fort Loramie (11-1, 6-0) took set one 25-7, set two 25-12 and set three 25-11.

“We’re on two opposite ends of the spectrum,” Raiders (4-7, 4-2) head coach Aaron Watkins said. “They’re a very senior driven team and we’re a very young team.

“I think we competed, the scores may not reflect that but I told the girls in the locker room that I thought we did a lot of individual things well. We’re going to find the positives and get back to practice tomorrow.”

Fort Loramie holds a game lead over Anna in the SCAL after Thursday’s game. It takes on a very strong St. Henry team that it beat earlier in the season, on Saturday.

“I’m excited about it,” Rodgers said. “We beat them at the Coldwater Spike-off and now it’s a point of, how far have we come. I know they’ve made leaps and bounds since then.”

Russia next battles Fairlawn at home on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
