BOTKINS – The Anna Rockets volleyball team took down the Botkins Trojans on Thursday in straight sets in a Shelby County Athletic League battle.
The Rockets (12-6, 7-3) took the first set 25-13, the second 25-8 and the final 25-9.
Anna was led in kills by Ava Reed with 11, assists by Izzy Jenkins with 27 and digs by Madison Mumaw with 22.
The Rockets are 2-0 since suffering a 3-2 loss to SCAL rival Russia on Sept. 19.
Anna is currently in second place in the SCAL as they trail Fort Loramie and its perfect league record.
The Rockets take the court again on Saturday when they battle Lehman Catholic at 9 a.m.
Fort Loramie dominates Fairlawn
Fort Loramie continued their series of straight set victories on Thursday against Fairlawn at home in another SCAL contest.
Loramie (16-1, 9-0) took the first set 25-17, the second 25-9 and the third set 25-16.
Fort Loramie has only had one match go longer than the minimum number of sets (including its loss to Coldwater in August), being its 3-1 victory over New Bremen on Sept. 21.
Loramie is led in digs on the season by Katie Luthman with 148, assists by Jenna Barhorst with 461 and kills by Avery Brandewie with 175.
Fort Loramie looks to continue their winning streak on Saturday at Marion Local at 11 a.m.
Lehman Catholic battles from behind to beat Bethel Bees
The Cavaliers took a 3-2 victory over Bethel on Wednesday in a Three Rivers Conference match.
Lehman (8-8, 6-3) fell behind 2-0 after the first two sets of the game before winning the final three sets of the match to take its first win in a week.
The Cavaliers lost the first set 25-22 and the second 25-20. The last three sets were won with scores 25-22, 25-22 and 15-12.
Kailee Rank led Lehman with 28 kills, Madison Rank led with 40 assists and 15 digs and Layla Platfoot and Malayna Verdier led the team with six blocks each.
