Grand jury issues indictments for felonious assault, other charges

SIDNEY — The Shelby County grand jury issued indictments for felonious assault, domestic violence, falsification and drugs, among other charges, on Thursday.

Sonya K. Smith, 60, of Piqua, was indicted on one count felonious assault, a second degree felony, for attempting to stab an adult male victim with a knife.

Matthew J. Overbey, 49, currently in the Shelby County Jail, was indicted on one count domestic violence, a third degree felony, one count strangulation, a third degree felony, one count intimidation of a witness in a criminal case, a third degree felony, one count aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony, and one count possessing criminal tools, a fifth degree felony, for strangling an adult female household member and punching her multiple times on her back, arms, shoulder and legs, after a previous conviction, threatening to kill an adult female victim if she reported his offender’s physical assault, methamphetamine and plastic baggies.

Lorrene M. Mitchell, 35, of Sidney, was indicted on one count falsification, a fourth degree felony, and one count illegal use of supplemental nutrition or WIC program benefits, a third degree felony, for knowingly making false statements on applications for SNAP assistance and wrongfully accepting and using SNAP for $20,405.

Charity L. Turner, 43, currently in the Shelby County Jail, was indicted on two counts extortion, a third degree felony, for demanding money from an adult male victim and threatening to expose the victim and his family to ridicule and damage their reputations if the victim did not pay the demanded money.

Derrick W. Wright, 21, currently in the Auglaize County Jail, was indicted on one count breaking and entering, a fifth degree felony, and one count vandalism, a fifth degree felony, for trespassing in buildings at Vandemark Farms in order to commit a theft offense in an amount exceeding $1000, and damaging buildings and property at Vandemark Farms.

Steven L. Clark, 51, currently in the Shelby County Jail, was indicted on one count receiving stolen property, a fourth degree felony, for possession of a 2021 Honda CRV that he knew or reasonable cause to believe had been stolen.

Matthew C. Padalino, 35, at large, was indicted on one count failure to register, a fifth degree felony, and one count failure to provide change of address, a fourth degree felony, for failure to register his address with the Shelby County Sheriff’s office having previously been convicted of importuning.

Ray W. Lewis, III, 40, at large, was indicted on one count trafficking in drugs, a second degree felony, and one count possessing criminal tools, a fifth degree felony, for cocaine and baggies. Further, the grand jurors find that his interests in a GF10 ROHM handgun, .22 Mag Davis Industries handgun, SCCY CPX-2 9mm handgun, Smith & Wesson .38 handgun, Bersa Cal .32 auth series 95, Ruger precision rifle and scope, Remington Model 1100 shotgun, Remington Model 514 22 long rifle, 50 Cal Weaver muzzleloader rifle and Stevens Model 124 12-gauge shotgun are subject to forfeiture if they were used in any manner to commit or facilitate the commission of a felony offense.

Heather L. Klette, 45, at large, was indicted on one count trafficking in drugs, a fifth degree felony, one count possessing criminal tools, a fifth degree felony, one count identity fraud, a fifth degree felony, and two counts failure to appear, a fourth degree felony, for Alprazolam, a container, using another person’s personal identifying information to misrepresent her identity as that individual in court, and failure to appear to the Court after being released on her own recognizance. The grand jurors further find $9400 in cash may be subject to forfeiture.

Travis W. Teasley, 47, at large, was indicted on one count aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony, one count possessing criminal tools, a fifth degree felony, and one count possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony, for methamphetamine, a pipe, and Fentanyl.

Dustin B.E. Russell, 35, currently in the Shelby County Jail, was indicted on one count possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony, and one count possessing criminal tools, a fifth degree felony, for cocaine and a pipe.

Seirria I. Fischer, 33, currently in the Shelby County Jail, was indicted on one count possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony, and one count possessing criminal tools, a fifth degree felony, for cocaine and a pipe.

Derek W. Kinninger, 45, currently in the Shelby County Jail, was indicted on two counts aggravated trafficking in drugs, a third degree felony, and two counts aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth degree felony, for methamphetamine.

Frady I. Shukeireh, 44, of Livonia, Michigan, was indicted on one count trafficking in drugs, a third degree felony, one count possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony, and one count possessing criminal tools, a fifth degree felony, for marijuana between 1000 grams and 5000 grams, Cocaine, baggies and a container. Further, the grand jurors specify that $2000 in cash is subject to forfeiture if derived directly or indirectly from the commission of a felony drug abuse offense.

James W. Lewis, 40, of Lexington, Kentucky, was indicted on one count possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony, and one count possessing criminal tools, a fifth degree felony, for marijuana between 200 grams and 1000 grams, and bags and containers.

Ricky L. Wilkins, 55, of Sidney, was indicted on one count aggravated trafficking in drugs, a second degree felony, one count possessing criminal tools, and one count aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony, for methamphetamine, plastic baggies and Hydrocodone pills. Further, the grand jurors specify that a 2006 white Lexus SUV and $230 in cash are subject to forfeiture if used in any manner to commit or facilitate the commission of the felony drug trafficking and drug abuse offenses.
