Your View: Vote for women’s rights

Speaking as a woman, mother and grandmother, how many of us have been ignored, disrespected, underpaid, marginalized, intimidated, harassed and treated as if we do not matter? This is our time to stand up for ourselves, our bodies, our daughters and our granddaughters.

We DO matter. Our opinions and decisions matter. It is our bodies that others are making decisions for rather than between ourselves and our doctors. We need and deserve appropriate healthcare, we need domestic violence support, we need affordable contraception, we need equality in the workforce, we need to be recognized and we need to be respected.

Seeing the recent billboards that have appeared in Shelby County bring this front and center. We, as women, have a responsibility to preserve these rights for our daughters and granddaughters and future generations. The path is clear. Vote your heart and vote for women’s rights.
