Football roundup: Lehman Catholic extends winning streak to 8

SIDNEY — The Lehman Catholic Cavaliers beat the Troy Christian Eagles 65-19 at Sidney Memorial Stadium on Friday in a Three Rivers Conference contest.

The Cavaliers (8-1, 6-0) got on the board early in the game with a pass from quarterback Turner Lachey to Da’Ron Pride to take a 7-0 lead with 11:21 on the clock in the first quarter.

For the rest of the first, it became the CJ Olding show as he scored three touchdowns to extend the lead to 27-0 entering the second quarter.

The Eagles got rid of the zero on their side of the scoreboard early in the second to cut the lead to 27-6 before Evan O’Leary responded with a touchdown of his own.

Lehman followed up the O’Leary touchdown with a safety to give it a 36-6 lead.

 

O’Leary then notched a second touchdown on the night still in the second quarter. Lachey then found the end zone again on a run to give the Cavaliers an even 50 points in the first half.

Near the end of the second quarter, O’Leary nabbed his third touchdown of the game and a Lehman Catholic High School record when he set the mark for all-time receiving yards as the Cavaliers led 57-6.

Troy Christian managed a touchdown at the end of the half that made the score 57-13 going into the third quarter.

O’Leary made it four touchdowns on the night when he scored with 6:43 left to play in the third.

The Eagles were able to score again in the fourth as Lehman Catholic won its eight consecutive game.

The Cavaliers will round out their regular season on Friday when they take on Northridge (6-3, 6-0) in Dayton. The game will determine the TRC title.

Anna dominates Fort Recovery

The Anna Rockets beat Fort Recovery 49-6 on Friday at Fort Recovery in a Midwestern Athletic Conference contest.

The Rockets (6-3, 4-3) had a strong first half, leading 28-6 before adding a fifth touchdown on the opening drive of the second half on a short pass from Alex Shappie to Noah Aufderhaar to extend the lead to 35-6.

Zach Osborn added another touchdown in the third before Wyatt Howell got a rushing touchdown of his own to finally shut the door on the game with a final score of 49-6.

Anna finishes its regular season on Friday at Booster Field when it takes on the Parkway Panthers at 7 p.m.

Fort Loramie drops 61 on Delphos Jefferson

Fort Loramie stomped Delphos Jefferson 61-6 on Friday in Delphos in a Northwest Conference matchup.

Loramie (4-5, 2-3) started the game out on defense, but quickly turned the tides with an interception by Thomas Hoying on the second play from scrimmage to give Loramie the ball in Delphos territory.

A few plays later, Fort Loramie got on the board with a short rushing touchdown from Ray Hoying to take a 7-0 lead. Loramie added another touchdown on a 37-yard touchdown pass with 6:31 left in the first quarter.

Quarterback Gabe Hart notched the third Loramie score of the quarter on a 51-yard touchdown pass to Maxwell Maurer to take a 21-0 lead.

Fort Loramie added yet another touchdown in the first on a blocked punt when R. Hoying scooped the ball up and took it 15-yards to the end zone.

With just seconds left in the first, Delphos got on the board with a 93-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown to cut the lead to 27-6.

In the second, Loramie extended its lead to 34-6 on a touchdown pass from G. Hart. Just a few minutes later, G. Hart threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Carter Eilerman to take a 41-6 lead after a successful PAT.

T. Hoying got his second interception of the game with 4:09 to play in the half, this time, being one he was able to return to the end zone to take a 47-6 lead on a missed PAT.

With less than a minute to play in the first half, freshman quarterback Tanner Heckman threw a touchdown to T. Hoying to take a 54-6 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, sophomore Lucas Brandewie notched a rushing touchdown when he punched the ball in with 4:44 on the clock to make the score 61-6.

With the win, Fort Loramie broke its two week losing streak and looks to end its season on a winning streak as it travels to take on Allen East on Friday at 7 p.m.
