Lake Campus wraps up academic year with events

CELINA — As Wright State University – Lake Campus wraps up the 2015-2016 academic year, many events are happening on campus. All events are free and open to the public.

Community Tailgate Saturday, April 16, 2016 12:30 p.m. A community tailgate will be held in Eastview Park before the women’s double-header softball games. The tailgate starts at 12:30 and the games start at 2 p.m. Games, activities and giveaways will be available for all ages. Contact Trent Kline at [email protected] with questions.

Free Skin Cancer Education

The Grand Lake Health Systems will be providing free education on Skin Cancer on Tuesday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Lower Level of Dwyer Hall (outside the bookstore and cafeteria).

Free HIV Testing

The Allen County Health Department will be on campus Tuesday, April 19, 2016, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Health & Wellness Clinic located in 187 Andrews Hall. This is free and open to the public. The testing is confidential, consists of a mouth swab and results are available in 20 minutes.

“Early” Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. Featuring: DJ Megan Gomez from MEGA-Ntertainment, El Corazon de Mexico Dance Group and Mexican Potluck. This is a free event and is open to the public. If you have questions please contact Dr. Dane Daniel at [email protected].

The Spring Showcase

The Business & Graphics Professionals Student Organization will be hosting a two- day exhibit displaying photography and art from Wright State University – Lake Campus students and high school students from the surrounding counties. The Spring Showcase is designed to showcase our communities’ talent, ability and creativity.

The showcase will be available in 177 Dwyer Hall on April 13 from noon to 6 p.m. and April 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held on April 14 at 5 p.m. If you have questions about this event please contact Lake Campus Student Anne Klopfenstein at [email protected].

Faculty Symposium

The Lake Campus Research Symposium will take place on Thursday, April 21, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this time an exhibit of faculty research projects will be on display in the faculty suite area, upper-level of Dwyer Hall. For more information please call 419-586-0300.

Sign Language Concert

Students enrolled in an American Sign Language course this spring semester will be putting on a concert Friday, April 22, 2016, at 7 p.m. All are welcome. For more information please contact Jodi Pierstorff at [email protected].

Spring Commencement

Wright State University’s Lake Campus Commencement Ceremony will be held at the Auglaize-Mercer Counties Family YMCA, located on the north end of the Lake Campus grounds Friday, April 29, 2016, at 5 p.m. The ceremony is for any Lake Campus student graduating between the summer of 2015 and the spring of 2016.
