Photos: Dog run finished at animal shelter

SCARF President Julie Ehemann plays catch with Shelby County Animal Shelter resident, Tippy, a pit bull terrier mix. The two were playing on Saturday inside the newly constructed “dog run” behind the shelter. The dog run consists of a fenced in grassy area where people looking to adopt can get to know a dog up for adoption without the sounds of the other dogs barking when they see a visitor. The area also allows for a more private area for visitors to see if their current pet or pets will get along with a particular dog they are looking to adopt. The dog run was purchased by SCARF with Match Day funds. It cost around $40,000. A storage shed is also the entrance.
