Shelby County United Way begins campaign with “Unite and Uplift” theme

The Shelby County United Way has kicked off the 2024 annual campaign with the theme “Unite and Uplift.” Through the communities support the SCUW was able to positively impact over 19,000 Shelby County residents last year.

The SCUW provides funding to 29 partner agencies and programs and makes an impact on many individuals community wide through United Way special project grants. Contributions also make possible several programs and projects for schools and other area non-profits who serve children and families through Student United Way Grants and POWER Grants. Community support helps make a difference in the lives of our community every day, every hour, every minute.

The Shelby County United Way’s local board of director’s and staff address the emerging needs in our community and respond. This collaboration has led to adding two new United Way partner agencies bringing our total to 29 partner agencies and programs.

New partner agency, Resilient Heights, helps students who are diagnosed with emotional disturbances or mental health issues that affect the student’s education. New partner agency, Shelby County Family and Children First Council, promotes healthy children and families by providing guidance that enhances their well-being.

The past few years of inflation and higher costs of goods and services continues to impact our partner agencies who provide the much-needed services to their clients.

“By increasing your gift by 10 percent or more than last year you will help us close the operational gap that our partner agencies have so they can continue to provide the much-needed services in our community,” President and CEO, Karla Young said. You will then be recognized as a member of the 110 percent Club.

In order to continue the level of needed services in the community, SCUW is challenged to raise even more in the 2024 “Unite and Uplift” campaign. Donors can make payroll contributions with participating employers, or to make a one time or reoccurring donation go to www.shelbycountyunitedway.org and click on DONATE. Donors can also text SHELBY to 40403. Checks can be made payable to Shelby County United Way and mailed to P.O. Box 751, Sidney, OH 45365.

The Shelby County United Way is a local 501c3 non-profit organization that has earned the highest rating from Charity Navigator ten out of the past eleven years. Monies raised in the annual campaign are invested locally under the leadership and direction of a local volunteer Board of Directors and Community Allocation Volunteers. Through the first week of the campaign, the campaign total is $300,749.06.
