Fred and Judy Platfoot celebrate 60 years together

BOTKINS — Fred and Judy Platfoot, of Botkins, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 15.

Fred and Judy (Schlenker) were married at a 7:30 p.m. candlelight ceremony in the St. Paul United Church of Christ, in Wapakoneta, on Aug. 15, 1964, with Rev. Herman Weber officiating.

Witnesses were the bride’s sister, maid of honor Mary Jo (Schlenker)Roth, bridesmaid’s cousin, Cathy (Lepper) Johnston, and friend, Christine Oyer. The flower girl was the groom’s cousin Roxanne (Engelhaupt) Strunk. The best man was the groom’s brother Ronnie Platfoot, the groomsmen were brother, Larry Platfoot, and bride’s brothers, Bill Schlenker and Tom Schlenker, as well as friend, Cliff Cunningham.

Judy is the daughter of the late Carl and Mildred (Cook).

Fred is the son of the late Stanley and Hazel (Bonnorant) Platfoot.

The couple has a daughter and son-in-law, Lorie and Jason Henline, of Spencerville, and a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Holly Platfoot, of Botkins. They have six grandchildren and one great grandson.

Fred graduated from Botkins High School and worked at Leroi from 1962-2003 as Purchasing Agent, then as a Materials Buyer at Airstream Inc. for six years before retiring. Judy graduated from Wapakoneta High School and worked at Stolle Corp. in the data processing department for seven years, then retired from Trupointe after 24 years working in the grain department.

Fred and Judy enjoy following the grandkids’ sports and school activities as well as spending time with family and friends.

They like following the Reds, Buckeyes, and Bengals.
