United Way’s campaign enters second week

The Shelby County United Way campaign is in full swing with the theme “Unite and Uplift.”

The donations from this campaign will allow the United Way to continue to invest in five impact areas; Investing in Youth and Families, Promoting Health and Well Being, Supporting Critical Human Needs, Rebuilding from Adversity, and Community-Wide Initiatives.

The annual Shelby County United Way partner agency allocation process provides accountability and ensures the community’s dollars are impacting Shelby County’s greatest needs. The process is done in March and April every year in which five allocation teams consisting of over forty people including Board Members, Company, and community volunteers conduct agency reviews. The United Way Board of Trustees approves the recommended agency allocations during their May board meeting.

The community’s “One Gift” to the Shelby County United Way helped over 19,000 community members last year through 29 amazing non-profit partner agencies, 10 United Way Special Project Grants, eight Student United Way Grants, and 27 POWER Grants, totaling $1,105,721 that was invested back into the local community.

With the community’s help, United Way can continue to “United and Uplift” the community through the much-needed human services our partner agencies and programs provide and make possible for family, friends, and neighbors.
