Football roundup: Lehman Catholic beats Riverside, stays tied for 1st in TRC

DeGRAFF — Lehman Catholic knocked off the Riverside Pirates 34-18 in a Three Rivers Conference matchup at Riverside on Friday.

The Pirates got on the board first in the second quarter but missed the PAT to have a 6-0 lead, but the Cavaliers (6-1, 4-0) responded later in the quarter with a Da’Ron Pride touchdown that gave Lehman a 7-6 lead.

Riverside found the end zone again in the second quarter and failed the two-point conversion. The Pirates took a 12-7 lead into the half.

The Cavaliers got back on the board early in the third on a Dillon Schmiesing reception. A successful PAT gave Lehman a 14-12 lead.

Late in the third, Lehman quarterback Turner Lachey found CJ Olding for a touchdown to take a 20-12 lead after a missed extra point. Riverside responded early in the fourth with a touchdown but again couldn’t convert the two-point attempt.

Olding scored two more touchdowns in the game to close the door on the Pirates with a score of 34-18.

The Cavaliers sit atop the TRC as they take on Covington on Friday at Sidney Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m.

Fort Loramie falls to Columbus Grove

Fort Loramie lost 50-20 in a Northwest Conference matchup against NWC frontrunners Columbus Grove on Friday at Columbus Grove.

Columbus Grove got out to a 14-0 lead after one quarter before Ray Hoying gets Loramie (3-4, 2-2) on the board midway through the second quarter to cut the lead to 14-7.

The momentum swing didn’t last long as Columbus Grove took Loramie’s kickoff 87-yards for a touchdown to extend the lead to 21-7.

Columbus Grove scored twice more in the third before Fort Loramie responded on a keeper by quarterback Gabe Hart to make the score 35-13 at the end of three quarters.

Loramie was able to score once more, but couldn’t overcome the two scores added by Columbus Grove in the fourth quarter.

Fort Loramie takes on Bluffton Friday in Fort Loramie at 7 p.m.

Anna holds on to beat Versailles

The Anna Rockets knocked off the Versailles Tigers 13-7 on Friday in Versailles in a Midwest Athletic Conference matchup.

The Rockets (5-2, 3-2) got on the board first quarter with a four-yard pass to Zach Osborn from quarterback Alex Shappie to take a 7-0 lead.

Osborn added to the points again in the second when he recovered a Tigers fumble for a touchdown late in the second quarter to extend Anna’s lead to 13-0.

Versailles got a touchdown in the third quarter to cut the lead to 13-7 and both teams entered a stalemate that went through the end of regulation.

The Rockets take on Marion Local at Booster Field in Anna on Friday for their homecoming game.
