Two juveniles transported by CareFlight

Two juveniles were transported by CareFlight after a one-car accident on Thursday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, on Oct. 17, at 2:04 p.m., the department received a report of a one vehicle injury accident on Pasco Montra Road just north of state Route 119.

Investigation revealed a 2004 Honda Accord, driven by a 16 year old juvenile was northbound on Pasco Montra Road approaching state Route 119. While travelling at a high rate of speed the driver failed to stop at the posted stop sign at the intersection. This causing the Honda to go airborne, the vehicle then lost control, proceeded off the west side of the roadway, struck a utility pole and then proceeded approximately 420 feet before coming to rest in a corn field.

The vehicle was occupied by the 16 year old driver and three 15 year old passengers. The driver and one of the back seat passengers were flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital and the other two occupants were treated at the scene and released.

It is believed that speed and inexperience is a contributing factor in this crash.

Responding agencies Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson Center Fire Department, Anna Rescue, Perry-Port Salem Rescue and CareFlight Rescue Helicopter.
