The beautiful new Big Four viaduct is the most outstanding feature of a project that involves 14 miles of rebuilding and double tracking, 7 miles of which is in a new location. The bridge is 785 feet long and 105 feet high from the foundation on bed rock to the track level. It consists of five arches, two of them 140 feet wide and two 100 feet wide. It required 28,000 cubic yards of concrete and 900,000 pounds of steel to build this bridge. The old line through Sidney winds down into the valley and thru the heart of the city. There are eleven curves and nine grade crossings in the city limits.
