SIDNEY — The Shelby County grand jury issued indictments for aggravated vehicular homicide and felonious assault on Thursday, Feb. 16.

SIDNEY — The Sidney Dance Company has been rehearsing for their 2023 production of a ballet, “Sleeping Beauty,” since October of 2022. The company is performing the ballet on Feb. 24, 25 and 26 at the Historic Sidney Theatre.

HOUSTON – According to a recent press release from Brian K. Hathaway, the Spirit EMS president/CEO, the Houston Joint Ambulance District has agreed on a three-year contract for ambulance service with Spirit EMS.

VANDALIA — Sidney didn’t get the district final berth it wanted but proved its fortitude on Thursday to any who questioned if it could play with one of the Dayton area’s largest and most consistent programs.

SIDNEY — Sylvia Roop with SAFY of Sidney, a therapeutic foster care agency, is partnering with April Hoying, a stay at home mom and a Discovery Toys Play adviser who lives just outside of Russia, for the fourth year in a row to raise money and put together Easter baskets for kids who have been placed in foster care in Shelby County by SAFY of Sidney.

SIDNEY — Sidney Police Captain William “Bill” Shoemaker was honored at a retirement party at the Sidney Police Department Thursday. Shoemaker used the occasion to introduce Sidney’s seventh police chief, Mark McDonough.

SIDNEY — A Shelby County grand jury voted Thursday not to indict Sidney Police Officers Jason Viapiano, Andrew Shappie and Aaron Wesbecher and Sidney Police Sgt. Chris Burmeister in an officer-involved fatal shooting at Sidney Foodtown on Wapakoneta Avenue on Dec. 21, 2022.
