SIDNEY — Shelby County dog tags for 2022 went on sale Dec. 1, 2021, according to Amy Berning, County Auditor. It is the law in Ohio that all dogs be tagged.
Three-year and permanent tags are available for dog(s) in addition to the traditional one-year tag.
The registration fee for the 2022 tag is $18 for a one-year tag, the three-year tag is $54 and the permanent tag is $180.
All dogs who have reached 3 months of age must be registered with the county. Owners have 30 days after acquiring a dog to get a tag. Proceeds from the tag sales are used exclusively to fund the Shelby County Animal Shelter. The Animal Shelter is now located at 610 Gearhart Road, Sidney.
The last day to purchase tags is Jan. 31. If a tag is purchased late (after Jan. 31, 2022) the price increases by an additional $18.
The one-year and three-year tag can be purchased at the Shelby County Animal Shelter, the Auditor’s Office, or online through the auditor’s website.
