FORT LORAMIE — A barn at 5901 State Route 705 right outside of Fort Loramie near Barhorst Road burned completely to the ground after it caught on fire Tuesday evening at 7:18 p.m.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reported Fort Loramie, Anna, Houston, Van Buren, Minster, New Bremen, and Osgood Fire Departments all responded to put out the fire caused by a skid loader coming into the barn.

The barn was full of hay, straw, and cows. No injuries to people were reported, although Facebook reports sited several steers did not make it out. Neighbors reported the barn was around 130 years old.

The owner of the property is listed as Jerry Marchal in the phone book, and reported as the owner on Facebook.
