Sidney, Russia, Anna win Academia matches

SIDNEY — The third round of Academic competition is in the books.

During the Monday, Oct. 10, matches — which were held at Anna, Lehman and Fort Loramie — the three winning schools were Anna, Sidney and Russia.

At the Anna site, the host school won the match with 34 points. Jackson Center placed second with 26 points and Houston scored 23 points.

At the Lehman Catholic High School site, Sidney won with 57 points. Botkins finished second with 35 points and Lehman was one point behind with 34 points.

Russia won the match hosted by Fort Loramie by scoring 43 points. Fort Loramie scored 38 points for second place. Fairlawn scored 16 points.

There were seven challenges in the matches — two each by Anna, Botkins and Fairlawn and one by Jackson Center. One point was awarded to Anna and Jackson Center. Two points were awarded to Botkins and Fairlawn.

Sidney remains the overall leader in the competition with 171 points. Russia is second with 132 points. Botkins is third with 121 points. Lehman, Anna and Fort Loramie are all tied with 113 points. Rounding out the schools, Houston has scored 84 points, Jackson Center, 68 points and Fairlawn, 61 points.
