Pair charged with burglary

SIDNEY — Two people were arrested after a burglary in Shelby County Thursday.

Benjamin Rains, 31, and Mackenzie (Counts) Rains, 24, were arrested by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies after they allegedly forced their way into a residence Thursday. Jewelry taken from the residence was found in their possession minutes after having allegedly committing the burglary.

Both were out on bond after being indicted for multiple burglaries and breaking and entering offenses which occurred from August to July 2016 in two other counties.

Detectives from the Logan and Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office assisted Shelby County Sheriff detectives in the investigation which led to 13 separate burglaries being solved that had occurred in Auglaize, Logan and Shelby counties.

They are currently being held in the Shelby County Jail.

They have been charged with felony burglary. Additional charges are pending upon further review by the Shelby County Prosecutor’s Office.

They were to appear in Sidney Municipal Court on Friday.
