NEW KNOXVILLE — The New Knoxville Friends of the Library will present local author Samantha Sheridan (the pen name of Pam Egbert) for a book signing of “The Silver Heart” on Saturday, Dec. 3, from noon to 2 p.m. The New Knoxville Library is located at 304 S. Main St. New Knoxville, Ohio.

Sheridan will do a short reading at 1 p.m. and will talk about writing the book along with answering questions from the audience. Egbert’s daughter, Jaime Quellhorst, who is the girl on the front cover of the book will also be at this event. The book will be available for purchase.

Sheridan’s book was recently published and is a fictional book about growing up in the Auglaize County area. It also features Wapakoneta native, Pete Oen, who was a contestant at the Quarter Horse Congress and recently won Grand Champion at the American Quarter Horse World Show, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. “The Silver Heart” includes the American Quarter Horse Association organization in the book and they, along with the Ohio Quarter Horse Association, have copies of the book, approving use of their organizations.

Sheridan (Pam Egbert) graduated from New Knoxville school and now resides at Wapakoneta, Ohio. Attending Wright State University with a major in Communications put Sheridan on the road to writing. Writing for her communications and business classes gave her the knowledge she needed to start writing. After college, she worked for the Wapakoneta Daily News as a reporter and doing special interest articles also added to her writing skills. Last year, Egbert published “Galon the Northern Pintail Duck” with the help of James Paul Publishing.

On Oct. 28, Montana Silversmiths hosted the book launch for The Silver Heart at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. The Ohio Quarter Horse Association helped with the arrangements of the book launch. Oen was in town to compete in the barrel horse shows and attended the book launch. Oen signed copies of the book and took pictures with fans.

The actual Silver Heart necklace in the book and shown on the book cover is available for purchase from Montana Silversmiths. This heart necklace will be a door prize for one lucky winner. Sign up is from noon to 2 p.m., and you do not need to be present to win. Refreshments will also be available. This event is free and open to the public.

Sheridan will be donating a copy of her book to both the New Knoxville and New Bremen library. More information on purchasing her book is also available on her website www.egbertbooksandpublications.com

As part of the village celebration, the library will also have a children’s story time at 11 a.m. and crafts for children until 2 p.m.
