Carter elected to OSBA council

SIDNEY — Magistrate Gary J. Carter, of the Shelby County Common Pleas Court, was recently elected to a two-year term on the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) Council of Delegates, commencing July 1, 2016.

The election was held at the annual luncheon meeting of OSBA District 2 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dayton. OSBA District 2 comprises 1,192 attorney members who practice in Darke, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Shelby counties.

Shelby County Common Pleas Court Judge James F. Stevenson, who is the District 2 representative on the OSBA Board of Governors, presided over the meeting, which had approximately 90 judges and lawyers in attendance. OSBA President John D. Holschuh Jr., an attorney practicing in Cincinnati, spoke about current issues facing the legal profession. A one-hour continuing legal education seminar was presented, which focused on access to justice issues.

Sidney attorney Harry N. Faulkner was in attendance, and he was recognized for his 50 years in practice. Also recognized was Rodney R. Blake Jr., formerly of Sidney, for 50 years in practice.
