Hardin-Houston board accepts donations

HOUSTON — The Hardin-Houston Board of education accepted several large donations at their October regular meeting.

The board accepted donations of $1,500 from an anonymous donor for the Athletic Fund, and $28,329.38 from the Shelby County Community Foundation on behalf of the Houston Athletic Complex Committee for the Permanent Improvement Fund.

Also at the meeting the board voted to employ Zachariah Freeling as the 7th Grade Boys Basketball coach and Deborah Bensman as a substitute bus driver.

The board also employed the following dual enrollment/college credit plus teachers: Zach Barlage, Tina Mertz, Deanna Chappie, Andrea Wintrow, and Cara Kellersmith.

They approved the tuition rate of $3,915.64 for the 2016-17 school year as set by the Ohio Department of Education, as well as approved the 2016-17 Five Year Forecast.

The board updated board policies and approved the snow removal bid. They also declared transportation to the Nicholas School as impractical for the Hardin-Houston Board of Education and authorized the minimum payment to the parent to be determined by the Ohio Department of Education in lieu of transportation for the 2016-2017 school year.

The next board meeting will be Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at 7 p.m. in the Media Center.
