Mending the great divide

0

I am writing this article to challenge and encourage the Church as a whole but also the believer as an individual.

The United States is so divided right now. We are coming out of one of the most brutal elections of all times. Both sides were just as passionate as the other about their candidate but it seems to have brought a divided nation. Our nation seems divided but the reason for this is that there is a great divide spiritually.

Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

We have to be different than the world. We have to stand on the truth of God’s word and it is not going to be easy. We have to be determined to put God first in our lives.

1 Peter 3:15 says, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.”

To sanctify something mean to set apart as or declare holy; consecrate. We have to set aside in our hearts that the Lord is holy.

An example of this is in Daniel 1:8, “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.”. Daniel was willing to die if necessary to remain holy to the Lord. We have to follow Daniels lead.”

We have to purpose in our hearts not to defile ourselves with the things of this world. When we do this we will not be understood. We will be looked at as intolerant to those that have decided to defile themselves with the things of this world. However this does not change the truth of God’s Word. The Word of God is absolute Truth.

That’s why people try to go against it. They want their own truth so that they can be their own god. They don’t want an absolute truth. If there is an absolute truth then they have to be held to that standard.

The standard of God’s Word says that we have all sinned and came short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Sin is any disobedience to God’s word (his standard). Examples of this is homosexuality, abortion, lying, stealing, impure thoughts and actions and the list goes on and on. That same absolute truth says that we can be forgiven of those sins.

Scripture says that if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe with our hearts that God has raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved (Romans 10:9).

So I challenge you to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world and allow His cross to build the bridge across the great divide. Absolute Truth says in John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
