Russia wins 10-1 at Fifth Third

DAYTON — The Russia Raiders cruised to a run-rule victory, beating Allen East 10-1 in five innings in a non-league high school baseball game played Tuesday night at the home of the Dayton Dragons, Fifth Third Field.

The Raiders go to 12-8 on the season. Allen East is 11-8.

After East scored a run in the top of the first, Russia came back with two in the first and went on to score in every inning, including four in the fourth.

Jonah Counts singled and tripled for the Raiders, who outhit East 12-4. Zach Sherman singled and doubled, Dion Puthoff had two singles, and Jordan Swartz also had a double. Sherman drove in three runs and Drew Sherman and Hunter Cohee two apiece. Counts, Puthoff and Connor Monnin all scored twice.

Kevin Drees went all five innings on the mound, striking out one and walking one.

Marion 13, NB 0

NEW BREMEN — New Bremen outhit Marion Local 6-3, but was shut out for the second night in a row Tuesday, this time in Midwest Athletic Conference play, 3-0.

The loss leaves the Cardinals at 1-6 in the league and 7-10 overall and puts the Flyers at 3-4 in the conference and also 7-10 overall.

Marion Local scored once in the first and twice in the second for all the scoring in the game.

Ryan Bertke had two hits for New Bremen.

Two of Marion Local’s three hits came from Duane Leugers, including a double, and he was also the winning pitcher, striking out five and walking just one in six innings of work. Aaron Nietfeld pitched the seventh and notched a save.

Deion Hoehne went all seven for the Flyers and fanned two and walked five.

Fort Recovery 7, NK 2

FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery defeated New Knoxville in another MAC game Tuesday, 7-2.

The win kept Recovery one game back in the standings at 5-2 and put the Indians at 14-6 overall. The Rangers are 0-7 and 2-15.

Knoxville plated both its runs in the top of the first and held a 2-1 lead until the Indians plated three in the bottom of the third.

Hobbs and Wendel both doubled for Recovery.
