Sidney golfers 11thin sectional tourney

SPRINGFIELD — Sidney’s golf team competed in the Division 1 Sectional Tournament at Reid Park in Springfield on Tuesday and placed 11th overall.

The top four teams advanced to the district, and they were Troy, Springfield, Bellefontaine and Beavercreek.

For Sidney, Kyle Noble shot an 89, Jared Lindsay 91, Ben Spangler 105 and Spencer Karn 111.

Final team standings (top 4 to district) — 1. Troy 333, 2. springfield 340, 3. Bellefontaine 340, 4. Beavercreek 345, 5. Wilmington 352, 6. Tecumseh 373, 7. Bellbrook 375, 8. Tipp City 393, 9. Greenville 394, 10. Piqua 395, 11. SIDNEY 396, 12. Xenia 397, 13. Fairborn 405, 12. Stebbins 415.

Girls district

FINDLAY — Minster was unable to qualify as a team out of the Division 2 Girls District Golf Tournament Monday at Sycamore Springs.

Minster finished ninth in the final team standings with a 398. Only the top three teams advanced on to the state tournament, and they were Shelby (341), Milan Edison (346), and Toledo Ottawa Hills (382).

None of the Minster players were able to finish in the top three players not on qualifying teams.

Hannah Koening led Minster with a 92, Sarah Huwer shot 100, Lisa Borges 102 and Taylor Homan 104. Ali Borgerding shot a 106.
