Lady Tigers clinch share of title

Jackson Center’s unbeaten Lady Tigers clinched at least a share of the County championship Tuesday night with a 3-0 win at Fairlawn.

The scores were 25-13, 25-11, 25-7, and it gave the Lady Tigers a 10-0 record in County play and a two-game lead over Fort Loramie with two to play. Overall, the No. 1-ranked Lady Tigers are now 20-0.

They will return to action Thursday night at home against Fort Loramie with a chance to clinch the outright title. And head coach Kim Metz will be going for her 500th career victory.

For Jackson, Cassie Meyer had 14 kills and nine digs for the Lady Tigers, Raquel Kessler had eight kills and three blocks, and Alicia Kessler had five kills and three blocks.

Camryn Hoehne had five ace serves, nine digs and four kills, Kamryn Elchert had 16 assists and three aces, and Vanessa Winner had four kills along with six digs.

Jackson also won the junior varsity match in two games.

Loramie 3, Houston 0

FORT LORAMIE — Fort Loramie defeated Houston in County play Tuesday 3-0.

The scores were 25-16, 25-18, 25-17, and the win put Loramie at 8-2 in the league and 13-6 overall going into Thursday’s match at unbeaten Jackson Center.

Houston is 0-11 in league play and 2-18 overall.

Caleigh Barhorst had 20 kills and Sara Stang 13 for Loramie. Abby Holthaus added six and Maeve Hilgefort fifve.

Sophia Albers had 42 assists, Taylor Ernst 19 digs and Barhorst 17 digs.

For Houston, Sarah Monnier had five kills and 10 digs, Hayden Riesenbeck had five kills, Olivia Bowser had 12 digs, Alyssa Kemp 15 assists, Jenna Green four kills and Jess Monnier three aces.

Loramie also won the JV game 25-12, 25-9.

Russia 3, Botkins 0

BOTKINS — Russia went on the road and came away with a 3-0 victory over Botkins in County volleyball Tuesday.

The scores were 25-21, 25-9, 25-17, and it upped Russia’s record to 5-5 in the league and 10-10 overall. Botkins drops to 2-9 in the County and 7-13 overall.

For Russia, Cameo Wilson had 13 kills, Laurissa Poling had 10 kills and two aces, Chris Gaerke six kills and Morgan Wenrick five. Whitney Pleiman had 15 digs and served six aces, Jenna Cordonnier had 23 assists, Lexi Monnin added 12 digs, and Katie Swartz nine digs.

For Botkins, Sarah Bergman had eight kills and 20 digs, and Jenna Pitts 11 assists and 17 digs.

Russia won the JV game 25-12, 25-13.

Marion Local 3, Anna 1

ANNA — Anna lost at home Tuesday in non-league action to Marion Local 3-1.

Anna won the first game 25-13, but Marion took the next three 25-13, 31-29, 25-16.

The Lady Rockets, now 10-10 on the season, got 10 kills and four solo blocks from Kennedey Glover, eight kills from Krista Gehret and six kills and four solo blocks from Emma Meyer.

Lexi Wells had 27 assists, and Carly Becker led the defense with 17 digs. Abby Counts and Rachel Shoemaker added 12 digs apiece.

Monday

Anna 3, Wapak 1

WAPAKONETA — Anna crept back over the .500 mark on the season with a 3-1 win at Wapakoneta Monday night.

The scores were 23-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-16.

Krista Gehret had 20 kills, Kennedey Glover 11 and Emma Meyer 10 to go with four solo blocks.

Lexi Wells had 44 assists, and the defense was led by Abby Counts with 21 digs and Carly Becker with 16.

Anna took a 10-9 record into a home match against Marion Local Tuesday.

The Anna junior varsity also beat Wapakoneta 25-1, 25-13.

Minster 3, Houston 0

MINSTER — Minster cruised to a 3-0 victory over Houston at home Monday in non-league action.

The scores were 25-6, 25-21, 25-7.

The loss left Houston at 2-17 overall heading into action at Fort Loramie Tuesday night.

Minster upped its record to 12-7 with neighboring rival New Knoxville coming to town Thursday for a league match.

Jordyn Heitbrink and Rosie Westerbeck had six kills apiece and Carly Barhorst and Taylor Hoying five each for Minster.

Hayley Baumer finished with 19 assists and Emma Goodwin added 10.

Paige Purdy led the defense with 13 digs, Heitbrink added nine and Danielle Barhorst finished with eight to go with three aces.

For Houston, Jess Monnier had six kills and two aces, Sarah Monnier had two aces, and Hayden Riesenbeck and Olivia Bowser had six digs apiece.

Minster won the JV game as well, 25-8, 25-15.

Lehman wins twice

Lehman won two matches recently, both on the road.

Lehman defeated Lima Perry 25-12, 25-13, 25-7, and Anna 25-16, 27-25, 16-25, 25-23.

The two wins evened Lehman’s record at 9-9 going into a match Tuesday night at Hardin Northern.

Against Perry, Sidney Chapman had 16 kills, and Ellie Scott had 10. Alexis Snipes dished out 19 assists, Lauren McFarland had 11 and Madison Hussey added nine digs.

Against Anna, Chapman had 25 kills and two aces and Scott added six kills. Lauren McFarland had 20 assists and two aces, Snipes had 16 assists and two aces and Madison Hussey had 20 digs.
