Lady Jackets drop 4th straight

VANDALIA — The Sidney volleyball slump continued Tuesday night, with the Lady Jackets dropping their fourth straight and fifth in their last six matches, 3-0 at Vandalia.

The scores were 25-20, 25-10, 25-18, and it left Sidney below .500 on the season at 10-11. The regular season came to an end Wednesday night with a home match against Greenville.

Against Vandalia, Kiana Calvert had 11 digs, Amanda Thomas six blocks and Emily Tolbert served three aces.

The junior varsity lost 2-1 to Vandalia. Arielle Snider had 13 kills and Faith Bockrath had 20 assists.

Fort Recovery 3, Minster 1

FORT RECOVERY — The Minster Lady Wildcats lost on the road in Midwest Athletic Conference play Tuesday, 3-1 to Fort Recovery.

Minster won the first set 25-22, but Recovery the next three 25-23, 25-19, 25-21 in a close match. The loss left Minster at 2-6 in the MAC and 13-8 overall heading into the regular-season finale Thursday at home against Parkway.

Minster got 10 kills apiece from Jordyn Heitbrink and Rosie Westerbeck, nine from Carly Barhorst and eight from Paige Thobe. Hayley Baumer set them up with 36 assists.

Paige Purdy led the defense with 22 digs, Baumer and Sara Ripploh had 15 apiece and Heitbrink added 11. Thobe also had eight blocks and Ripploh two ace serves.

Marion Local 3, New Knoxville 1

MARIA STEIN — Marion Local defeated New Knoxville’s Lady Rangers 3-1 in MAC volleyball Tuesday, the scores being 28-26, 25-22, 21-25, 25-15.

The loss left the Lady Rangers at 2-6 in the MAC and 10-11 overall heading into the regular-season finale Thursday at home against Fort Recovery.

The Lady Flyers, meanwhile, are at 9-0 in the MAC and are 16-5 overall heading to Coldwater Thursday to end the regular season.

The Lady Rangers were led by Shayna Bierlein with 12 kills and 26 digs, and Kenzie Schroer with 20 assists, 17 digs and eight kills.

Tasia Lauth added six kills, and Faith Homan handed out 29 assists.

Marion also won the JV match 28-26, 26-24.

Junior high

Riverside advanced to the championship of the Northwest Central Conference junior high tournament with a 2-1 win over Lima Perry Tuesday.

The scores were 25-20, 21-25, 25-21, and it put Riveride in the championship game at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Lauryn Sanford had five kills and three blocks for Riverside, Alli Knight had three kills and six ace serves, Sierra Snow had four aces and seven assists, Macie Manahan had four aces and Cataline Notestine had three aces.
