SUNBURY — Fort Loramie senior golfer Brad Gottemoeller finished the first day of the Division 3 State Boys Golf Tournament tied for sixth place overall after a day-one score of 76 Friday at NorthStar Golf Course in Sunbury, east of Columbus.
Gottemoeller, who qualified for the tournament as an individual last week at the district, started on the back nine and shot a 40. He had one birdie, three bogeys and one double bogey. On the front nine, he had one birdie and one bogey to finish even par at 36.
The tournament was delayed an hour because of frost.
Gottemoeller will tee off Saturday morning at 10:40.
• The Versailles girls are competing in the Division 2 State Girls Tournament at Ohio State’s Gray Golf Course, and the Lady Tigers shot a first-round score of 365, good enough for seventh place, 37 strokes behind leader Independence (328).
Lauren Heitkamp and Lauren Durham both shot 88 for Versailles, Jorja Pothast 90 and Morgan Heitkamp 99.
