HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — A man accused of fatally beating his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter in southwest Ohio has been convicted of murder, involuntary manslaughter and child-endangering.
A Butler County judge on Tuesday sentenced Bradley Young to life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 15 years.
WCPO-TV reports Young’s attorney, Frank Schiavone III, argued for a lenient sentence, saying Young is hard-working and has no prior criminal record.
WKRC-TV reports Schiavone also depicted the toddler’s mother as a poor caretaker.
Prosecutors alleged that Young beat Kinsley Kinner, who was found unconscious at her Madison Township home in December. She died at a hospital.
Kinsley’s mother, Rebekah Kinner, previously pleaded guilty to charges including involuntary manslaughter and permitting child abuse. She was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
She didn’t testify in Young’s trial.
